Matthieu Blazy’s introduction to the Chanel runway

Chanel Spring Summer 2026 Ready To Wear Matthieu Blazy Paris

Chanel’s new creative director, Matthieu Blazey, just had his runway debut at Paris Fashion Week. It is safe to say the Spring Summer 2026 collection was an ode to the founder and icon, Coco Chanel. In June of last year, former creative director Virginie Viard stepped down, creating lots of speculation about who would be her successor. In December, it became clear that it would be Blazy. We watched the show in awe and wanted to share our favourite details about the event.

Universe of Chanel

The show was held in a recently renovated building made out of glass and steel called the Grand Palais. Blazy’s idea was to transform the building into a planetarium, symbolising the “Universe of Chanel”. Large colourful orbs were hanging from the ceiling and embedded in the glossy black floor, representing the planets. Because of the lights reflecting from the orbs onto the glossy floor it made the planetarium look complete.

Blazy had a mission to reference Chanel designers and history before him, but also give his own twist. He included the typical Chanel tweed and sitting, but removed the stiffness. For example, boxy cropped blazers over relaxed tweed trousers for a relaxed, androgynous look. Touches of English culture were also recognised, nodding to Coco’s lover and muse Boy Capel. Things like the original brown tweed and plaid, standing out from Coco Chanel’s commonly used colours and patterns. Blazy’s own twist was seen in the bright colours, embezzled gowns, and fun textures.

Star-studded venue

Because this show was one of the most anticipated and looked forward to shows of the season, no one wanted to miss it. Brand ambassadors and muses like Nicole Kidman, Ayo Edeberi, Margot Robbie, Kendall Jenner, Pedro Pascal, Naomi Campbell, and Lily-Rose Depp were some of the big names seen at the show.

Items that caught our eye

We always have some favourites and things that catch our eye. Referencing the iconic Chanel classic flap bag, this bag had its own twist. With the same shoulder bag design, Chanel logo on the clasp and double-chained straps, this bag had an interesting twist. It had different-sized, coloured and shaped flowers sewn onto it. Giving a unique and creative touch to an iconic staple piece.

Something that also stood out was the necklace on Look 21. It is a big and bulky golden necklace, almost like a chain but with more sophisticated forms. It gives the perfect edgy and fun touch to an outfit that needs to be spiced up, or if something just needs to be added.

Even though this season was filled with debuts, Blazy’s was still the highest anticipated, and according to most reviews, he lived up to the expectations.

With love,
